Remembering God

I remember joining and serving in Boys Brigade in the Year of Victory 2 years back. The reason I joined is because I heard God asking me to serve my leader in this area. i heard and I went.

I enjoyed serving the boys, befriending them, encouraging them, teaching them. Yes, the distance's long, but I always enjoyed the process. And I thank God for this process, because it has molded me in terms of the heart.

Jesus modelled to us the form of servant leadership that's different from the worldly models, where we are called to serve first, lead second. And for the past two years, I thank God that He is guiding me through this growing stage - helping to check my heart and mold it to be more like His. Praise God.

I remembered God's goodness in our company. In the year of Victory, we got out first Gold award. In BB, its called the JM Fraser AWard, named after the founder of the BB Singapore. In the MOE system, its a uniformed group gold award. It's our first ever Gold award, and i believe it serve as a encouragement to many of the rest of the GBs and BBs companies sponsored by our church. When I see the list, its pretty huge, some 10-20 of them..

In the following year, Glory to God, our company got the Gold Award again. Glory to God indeed, needless to say, its our prayer and dependence on God this year and beyond to sustain the Gold Award.

Looking back at the history of the company, although I am not there from beginning, i have heard of the hardships in the beginning, and its during the year of Victory, when indeed by God's triumphant procession that believing teachers from the school come be part of the team and making the unity of the comapny be much strengthened. Praise God indeed for sending the right teachers who continued to be a huge blessings to all.

I want to remember God because sometimes when we have what we have, we tend to look too much into it and forget that its God who gave us whatever we have.

May we always remember God's goodness, and continue to depend on him, seek His interests and plans, not ours.

He is never interested in our plans. He is only interested in His plans. somebody said that, and the more i think, the more i think its correct. if u think this statement is not true, i suggest u allow the Holy Spirit to check your heart.

Sometimes, there are just so many human originated plans that we find ourselves in.. finding ourselves striving, weary, frustrated, lost.... i have been feeling quite a fiar of it time to time... and i realised its because i have been relying on my human wisdom n strength...

its time to remember God's goodness, and seek to depend on Him on everything by submitting and surrendering to Him.

Somebody shout Amen!

Amen!

my first 100k blessing

Last Thurs, while working, someone called me from behind, and as I turned around, I saw Uncle Nelson Lam, whose on his motorised wheelchair.

Uncle Lam, a 60 yr old retiree...friend who is physically challenged with post-polio..

I got to know Uncle Lam two years plus back in Jurong Point, when I rented a pushcart there during Christmas season... He stays in Boon Lay with his elderly parent.. So in order to keep a active lifestyle, he goes out daily to shopping centres and such to hang around. He made friends with retailers and he has become a familiar side to the shop owners in JP... So when i was in JP, i see him so often and I made friend with him.

He was actually one of the 23 founders of Handicaps Welfare Association (HWA) - http://www.hwa.org.sg/ some 40 years ago. this was my first company that i worked at few years back.

Uncle Lam's a friendly old guy who is very easy to chat with and he knows my family members too. When my mum was working alone at JP then, there were times when she needs to go to the loo, so Uncle Lam will help to take care of the pushcart when she is not around. my dad knows him too..

Back to the story, Uncle Lam knows i work in Suntec so he came by to find me, and left a short while later. later, he smsed me soemthing and end off with a " God bless you." I was surprised as i tot he's not a Christian.. So i asked him..

He just simply replied" trying to .."

So i figured he must be interested to find out more about the faih. U can imagined my excitement as its so CRYSTAL CLEAR that he is near, and God is using me and this season to reach out to him.

So the next day, i went to JP to find him at KFC and have a good chat with him. And in the conversation , he mentioned about how he appreciate God for blessing him repeatedly. Yet, its clear that he has not believed in God.

He seems so near, yet i was not convicted that i should just proclaimed God's kingdom upon his life.

I think God used the time to 'return' me to a state of patience and love for ppl, and not just a hit-n-run relationship.

As i go along, there's a natural tendency for me to just share a John 3:16 and push the faith on someone who showed a whiff of hint of being near to God's kingdom. But God showed and impressed on me that that's should not always bethe case... as every situation is unqiue.

It seems to me that God is more interested in teaching me to love someone with a heart, His heart.
Praise God!
So i just showed him the 12 blessings, and he asked for health. and i prayed for him that.

Surprisingly, he is moving house with his parent this june/july... Guess where is he moving to?

Sengkang!

So much nearer and thus easier for me to reach out to him!

This revelation showed me that this meeting is divinely set-up by God.

And i bless him in prayer with a smooth transition too..

And i stopped there with a prayer of blessings. in this case, i think God's more interested in me taking a more patient , loving manner of blessin Uncle Lam instead of just sharing for the sake of sharing.

Something is just different, don't know how to put it.
Anyway, i do think its better this way.

Thank God for this opportunity. its God send... and its has been my prayer for long to reach out to uncle Lam, and God has make it possible. Praise God, i look forward to the day when Uncle Lam come to know the Lord.

Hallelujah!

This is so exciting!

100k blessings Campaign here again

The 100k Blessings here again this May!
This time, the Love Singapore Churches are also participating in this campaign, where we seek to bless 100k pre-believing persons .

On FCBC side, since we are doing this for the second time, we are encouraged to be more focused on our PERFECT 10 (Persons Engaged REgularly For Effective Community Transformation)... i.e ppl who we see and contact regularly and be a blessings to them.

Personally

On my personal level, so far I have been able to bless one person. And I noticed the increased activity of me meeting friends around. And I know God is always at work..

Somehow, this time round, the mood is different from the excited me 2 years back. Back then, i barely prayed for any pre-believer 1-1. But ever since then, it has become a part of me, a part of the lifestyle - that when someone has a need in their life, and the Lord is leading me to pray for him/her, I will tend to do it more as compared to pre-100k days.

Thus, this time round , the excitement level seems to have lowered significantly to be honest. Nonetheless, I do pray that God will help me to have that excitement level to see His blessings flow into the 10 persons (at least) that He is leading me into..

Dear Lord, i thank you for the 100k blessings. i believe this is from you because its your heart to bless the lost and deepest desires to have them come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that God you grant me and my bro/sis in Christ the excitement and willingness to go out and serve you by being a channel of blessings to their family/frens/colleagues. i pray that you will help us by sending people onto our path, and hlep us to have the courage and willingness to bless them thru the instruments of this campaign..I pray that all of us will depend on the leading and the power of the Holy Spirit and not by our own human strength and understanding. Renew and REfresh us, Lord..

Thank you Lord, in Jesus name, i pray ! Amen!
Hallelujah!
